The LEAD Academic Network's Academic Leadership and Internationalisation Symposium was successfully held at the University of Cyprus

On July 8, 2024, the LEAD Academic Network Symposium on Academic Leadership and Internationalization was successfully held at the University of Cyprus. This symposium brought together academic leaders from various countries and regions to discuss strategies, challenges, and experiences in academic leadership and internationalization, providing valuable insights and inspiration for the future development of these fields.



The event began with a tour of the University of Cyprus campus, giving participants a comprehensive understanding of the institution's infrastructure and academic environment. The symposium's opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Elena Avgoustidou-Kyriacou, Acting Director of the International Relations Service and Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus. Professor Tasos Christofides, Rector of the University of Cyprus, delivered the opening remarks, warmly welcoming all guests. Stella-Maria Vassiliou, from the International Relations Service, provided an overview of the University of Cyprus and its international recruitment efforts. Following this, Professor Marcin Górski from the Silesian University of Technology presented a keynote speech on "European University Initiative - New Dimension in Academic Leadership Cooperation," exploring new models of academic leadership cooperation.


The symposium then moved into a roundtable discussion on "Strategies, Challenges, and Experiences on Academic Leadership and Internationalization," chaired by Professor WANG Zhenxian from Beijing Institute of Education and the University of Cyprus. Professors from the University of Cyprus, Zhejiang University, Istanbul University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Tongji University, Silesian University of Technology, and Renmin University of China shared their insights and experiences.


In the afternoon, keynote presentations focused on academic leadership and institutional and regional cooperation. Professor João Amaro de Matos, Vice Rector of Universidade Nova De Lisboa, discussed "Academic Leadership and Regional Cooperation at NOVA: Recent Cases," while Anthony Antoine, Executive Director of the School of Governance at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, shared his perspectives.


The interactive Q&A session provided a platform for participants to share their academic leadership experiences and engage in peer learning, fostering a lively and engaging atmosphere. Professor Chang Zhu concluded the symposium with a summary, marking the successful end of the event.


This symposium facilitated collaboration and understanding among academic leaders from different countries, laying the foundation for future development in academic leadership and internationalization, and offering valuable experiences and insights.


LEAD学术联盟学术领导力与国际化研讨会成功在塞浦路斯大学举办

2024年7月8日,LEAD学术联盟学术领导力与国际化研讨会在塞浦路斯大学成功举办。此次研讨会汇聚了来自全球多个国家和地区的学术领导者,共同探讨了学术领导与国际化的战略、挑战与经验,为未来的学术领导与国际化发展提供了宝贵的经验和启示。


活动在塞浦路斯大学校园的参观中拉开帷幕。与会嘉宾对学校的基础设施和学术环境有了全面的了解,开启了他们对塞浦路斯大学的第一印象。随后,研讨会的开幕式由塞浦路斯大学国际关系服务署代理主任兼孔子学院院长Elena Avgoustidou-Kyriacou博士主持。塞浦路斯大学校长Tasos Christofides教授致开幕词,向各位嘉宾表示热烈欢迎。国际关系服务署的Stella-Maria Vassiliou详细介绍了塞浦路斯大学的基本情况及其国际招生与推广工作。来自西里西亚工业大学的Marcin Górski教授作了题为“欧洲大学倡议——学术领导合作的新维度”的主题演讲,探讨了学术领导合作的新模式。


随后,研讨会进入了圆桌讨论环节,主题为“学术领导与国际化的战略、挑战与经验”。讨论由来自北京教育学院和塞浦路斯大学的WANG Zhenxian教授主持,来自塞浦路斯大学、浙江大学、伊斯坦布尔大学、布鲁塞尔自由大学、同济大学、西里西亚工业大学及中国人民大学的教授们分享了他们的见解和经验。


下午的主题演讲重点探讨了学术领导与机构及区域合作。新里斯本大学副校长João Amaro de Matos教授以“学术领导与区域合作:NOVA的最新案例”为题作了演讲,布鲁塞尔自由大学治理学院执行主任Anthony Antoine也发表了自己的见解。


本次研讨会的互动问答环节为与会者提供了一个分享学术领导经验和进行同伴学习的机会,大家积极参与,气氛热烈。之后,朱畅教授进行了总结,为此次研讨会画上了圆满的句号。


此次研讨会通过深入的讨论与交流,加强了各国学术领导者之间的合作与理解,为未来的学术领导与国际化发展奠定了基础,提供了宝贵的经验和启示。
