EU-China Experts Join Forces to Discuss Higher Education Cooperation under Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet Programs

On September 13, 2024, the EU-China Higher Education Research Center at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the LEAD Academic Network, the Brussels School of Governance at VUB, and Beihang University, have jointly organized a pivotal seminar on EU-China higher education cooperation. Bringing together 31 distinguished academic leaders, policymakers, and researchers from six prominent European and Chinese institutions, as well as policy organizations, the seminar provided a dynamic platform for dialogue. Focused on enhancing academic collaboration through the Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet Programs, the event aimed to strengthen the visibility of EU and foster deeper academic partnerships between Europe and China, laying the groundwork for future educational innovations and cross-border cooperation.



Prof. Dr. Gao Ning from Beihang University opened the event, emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural collaboration and academic exchange in driving innovation. Followed his opening address, Prof. Dr. Chang Zhu presented the EU-China Higher Education Research Center and the LEAD Academic Network.


The first panel, chaired by Prof. Dr. Guan Kongwen (Beihang University), discussed the evolving Erasmus+ Program. Prof. Dr. Florian Trauner (VUB) shared the Brussels School of Governance’s success with Jean Monnet initiatives and Erasmus+ projects. Prof. Dr. Fu Lisha (Beihang University) highlighted changes in Erasmus+ principles and their impact on Chinese participation, while Prof. Dr. Zhang Han explored Responsible Research and Innovation. Prof. Dr. Luciano Saso (UNICA) presented the development of Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet programs and the international dimensions of these programs. Prof. Dr. Li Zhuyu (Sichuan University) emphasized the importance of the mutual understanding among university students in China and the EU.

The second panel, led by Prof. Dr. Florian Trauner, focused on Jean Monnet Programs and their contributions to EU-China cooperation. Prof. Dr. Guan Kongwen introduced a Jean Monnet module on European integration. QI Zhengwen (VUB) analyzed post-COVID higher education collaboration, and Prof. Dr. Yang Zekun (Renmin University) discussed a Jean Monnet Module on digital transformation in EU governance. Prof. Dr. Chang Zhu presented a research proposal in exploring digital leadership, and Prof. Dr. Huang Yanfen shared her contributions as Jean Monnet Chair on innovations in public administration.

The seminar concluded with Prof. Dr. Chang Zhu highlighting how AI could revolutionize higher education and information delivery. Beyond recognizing current achievements, the event paved the way for future EU-China academic cooperation. Leveraging Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet programs, participants emphasized the opportunity for groundbreaking research collaborations to shape the future of education and innovation between Europe and China.


中欧专家齐聚布鲁塞尔自由大学探讨伊拉斯谟加和让莫内项目下的高等教育合作

2024年9月13日,布鲁塞尔自由大学VUB中欧高等教育研究中心,VUB布鲁塞尔治理学院, LEAD学术联盟和北京航空航天大学,共同合作举办了一场重要的中欧高等教育合作研讨会。该研讨会汇集了来自六所欧洲和中国知名高校及政策机构的31位杰出学术领导者、政策制定者和研究人员,提供了一个充满活力的对话平台。研讨会聚焦于通过Erasmus+和Jean Monnet项目促进学术合作,旨在加强学术流动性并深化中欧之间的研究合作,为未来的教育创新和跨境合作奠定基础。

北京航空航天大学的高宁教授为本次活动致开幕辞,强调了跨文化合作和学术交流在推动创新中的重要性。在他的致辞之后,朱畅教授介绍了中欧高等教育研究中心和LEAD学术联盟。

来自北京航空航天大学的关孔文教授主持了第一个专家组讨论,聚焦Erasmus+项目的演变和贡献。弗洛里安·特劳纳教授(布鲁塞尔自由大学)分享了布鲁塞尔治理学院在申请Erasmus+项目中的成功经验。傅丽莎教授(北京航空航天大学)重点介绍了Erasmus+原则的变化及对中国参与者的影响,张寒教授(北京航空航天大学)探讨了负责任的研究与创新。卢西亚诺·萨索教授(欧洲首都大学联盟)介绍了Erasmus+ Jean Monnet项目的发展及其国际合作领域。李竹渝教授(四川大学)强调了中欧青年大学生相互了解的重要性。

第二个专家组环节由弗洛里安·特劳纳教授主持,重点探讨了Jean Monnet项目对中欧合作的贡献。关孔文教授介绍了一个关于欧洲一体化的Jean Monnet模块项目。齐政文(布鲁塞尔自由大学)分析了后疫情时代的高等教育合作,杨泽坤教授(中国人民大学)讨论了欧盟治理中的数字化转型。朱畅教授介绍了探索数字领导力的研究建议书。黄艳芬教授分享了作为Jean Monnet讲席专家在公共行政创新的研究及贡献。

研讨会最后由朱畅教授总结,她强调了人工智能在未来高等教育和信息传递方式中的变革潜力。此次研讨会不仅回顾了中欧学术合作的现有成果,还交流了未来的合作机遇。与会者通过了解Erasmus+和Jean Monnet项目,探讨研究合作的机会,塑造中欧高等教育创新的未来。
